Hunt underway for new council chief

The search has begun to find a new chief executive for Hertsmere Borough Council.

The role has been filled on a temporary basis by director of resources Sajida Bijle since former chief Eden Lee left the authority last October.Advertised online and in national publications earlier this month, the role offers a salary of around £125,000.The council commissioned recruitment agency Tribal to help with the process, and a video on the company's website shows council leader Morris Bright talking about Hertsmere.Standing on the set of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Mr Bright says: "We have varied and diverse communities across the borough. "Even though it may seem Hertsmere is steeped in history, that does not mean we are stuck in the past."We are very much a borough that is moving forward, and we need someone who is going to help carry the authority forward into the future.
