The search has begun to find a new chief executive for Hertsmere Borough Council.

The role has been filled on a temporary basis by director of resources Sajida Bijle since former chief Eden Lee left the authority last October.Advertised online and in national publications earlier this month, the role offers a salary of around £125,000.The council commissioned recruitment agency Tribal to help with the process, and a video on the company's website shows council leader Morris Bright talking about Hertsmere.Standing on the set of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, which is filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Mr Bright says: "We have varied and diverse communities across the borough. "Even though it may seem Hertsmere is steeped in history, that does not mean we are stuck in the past."We are very much a borough that is moving forward, and we need someone who is going to help carry the authority forward into the future. We want someone to share our vision and drive us forward."Shortlisted candidates will undergo a series of assessments and interviews and it is hoped the process will be completed in June, with the successful candidate starting work at the authority by the end of the year.Judith Fear, head of HR at the council, said: "This is an exciting time for local government and we are looking for someone with strong leadership skills who is looking to work in a progressive and dynamic authority."This is an attractive opportunity for someone who will be able to make their mark and drive the authority forward."To view the recruitment video, visit www.tribalresourcing.com/hertsmere/

Here you go! Everyone who is jealous of the salary should brush off your CV and put in for this very easy job. Should be hundreds of candidates since everyone thinks the job is a cakewalk with a big paycheck...

Not a cake walk, far from it, a tough job I expect. As it is one of the few jobs around that you cannot be sacked from, when he or she inevitably leaves under the cloud of some made up scandal, indiscretion or mistake, which he or she inevitably will, they always do, he or she will pick up a very nice lottery six numbers without the bonus ball level pay off to keep them quite. Not a bad gig really.

Perhaps for an easier life, people could apply to Haringey Council, you are willing to pay GBP53k for an "Aim High Co-Ordinator" Yes, I have no idea wtf it is either. Still, a good use of council tax payers funds i'm sure we would all agree.

Does Hertsmere have any of these vital workers? If not, why not? We have Chavs who want to aim high. Instead of just getting the bare minimum in benefits, they want them all. Aim High, take take take!!!

...And if you're not suitable for this underpaid vacancy, I'm sure there will be a suitable position for you as a: Diversity Manager, Senior Information Officer, smoking cessation officer, Youth Offending Team Practitioner(?), Information and Outreach Worker(?), Climate Change Officer(!), Parenting Strategy Manager(?), Cycling Towns Project Manager(?), Senior Place-making Consultant(?)...all well paid local government jobs from the Guardian on-line(where else!) - 23 pages of 'em!! Everyone who is p****d-off as I am to see where our council tax goes should look at:

made up garbage unnecessary jobs - for people who would, in a private office, be a filing clerk.

all of you should run for office, if that's how strongly you feel, why don't you get elected and change things?
